Sainath Shinde - Natural Farming
Introduction
I am Sainath Shinde, a resident of Bondrat village in the Telangana state. My education includes B.Sc., M.A., and B.Ed.
Natural Farming
I have been practicing natural farming since 2014, cultivating all types of crops on a total of 20 acres of land, and growing about 20 types of fruits and vegetables on just half an acre.
Indigenous Seeds
I have about 25 types of indigenous seeds available, including rice varieties (Kala Bhati, Rakta Shali, Mysore Mallika, Chitti Mutyalu, Indrani). Similarly, in wheat, I have Banshi and Son Moti, and in turmeric, I have Shailam Kasturi and Sugandhi, along with indigenous coriander, jowar, tur, urad, and moong. Additionally, there are various types of millets and other indigenous seeds available.
Commitment and Water Conservation
In the meantime, my important commitment is to preserve these seeds through exchange with farmers. Also, a rainwater harvesting tank has been constructed in my home's courtyard, which can hold 28,000 liters of water.
Training and Awards
Scientists, students, and fellow farmers visit my area, and I continue to provide training to them at my home. Recognizing this work, the Gram Bharati NGO awarded me the Best Natural Farmer Award from the Honorable Vice President Venkaiah Naidu at the Kisan Expo 2024 in Hyderabad Hi-Tech City. Recently, the Government of Telangana also honored me with the Best Farmer Award.
